From Kornaros to Kazantzakis
Language, Culture, Society and History in Crete
Selwyn College, 30 June – 1 July 2014
Prof. Holton’s longstanding contribution to Modern Greek Studies has significantly helped to establish and shape the discipline not only in the UK but internationally. He is well known for his research not only on the literature in Renaissance Crete and the grammar of Medieval and Modern Greek but also on a multitude of aspects of Modern Greek literature. However, large part of his work was centred on or around Crete: his work on Erotokritos and other aspects of Cretan literature and culture have become points of reference for researchers.
The organisers will welcome proposals for 20-minute papers in English on any aspect of Cretan culture, society and history from the 16th to the 21st centuries.
Please include the following information with your proposal:
• the full title of your paper
• a 250-300 word description of your paper
• your name, postal address and e-mail address
• your institutional affiliation and position (if any)
• a short bionote
Deadline for submission of abstracts: 20 December 2013
